Beneath the 5x3 playing grid is where you’ll find all the controls you need to enjoy the game. On the right-hand side, there’s the spin button. Tap this to play, or use the autoplay feature next to it if you prefer. On the right of the autoplay button, you can activate a small icon for fast spins. To the left of the spin button is the max bet toggle.
Moving along to the left, you have a space which shows your current win, and to the left of this is your current bet. Use the arrows to change the bet size or open it up for more options. Left of your current bet, the game shows you your playing balance. To the side of this, you’ll find a menu which you can open to change the settings and see the paytable.
The information button opens the game’s paytable, which shows you all the different symbols and their payouts, plus the bonus features. There are eight regular symbols and three bonus symbols to watch out for as you spin.
At the bottom of the paytable, the lower-value symbols are brightly coloured J to A card royals. J pays 2x your stake for 5 on a payline. Q pays 2.5x your stake for 5 on a payline. K pays 3x your stake for 5 on a payline. A pays 4x your stake for 5 on a payline.
The higher value symbols are various forms of gold. The gold coins pay 7.5x your stake for 5 on a payline. A gold bar with a few coins pays 10.5x your stake for 5 on a payline. A stack of gold bars pays 15x your stake for 5 on a payline. A trio of golden dollar signs pays 25x your stake for 5 on a payline.
The scatter is a golden star that triggers free spins. The wild is the word WILD in bold letters that stands in for all symbols besides the scatter and Link & Win symbols while paying 500x your stake for 5 on a payline. The Link & Win symbol is a casino chip that triggers a bonus feature.
In this slot, 25 paylines are active at all times. To land a win, you simply need to match three symbols along one or more of these lines. Your combination needs to start on the first reel, with wins only paying from left to right. Your payout will change depending on the value of the symbols and your current bet.
Wild symbols may appear on any reel as you spin, substituting for regular symbols to help create winning lines. What’s more, they’re also the highest-paying symbol in the game. You could win 500x your stake from landing five of a kind.
This buy-in feature increases your bet by 2.5x and adds extra casino chip symbols to the reels, making it easier to trigger Link & Win. While the higher bet cost is steep, it’s worth it if you manage to trigger the excellent Link & Win feature.
When at least 6 casino chips appear on the reels, they turn sticky and all other positions on the reels will become empty. You will get 3 respins where only casino chip symbols can appear in the vacant positions. Any chip symbols that land will also become sticky and reset your respin count to 3.
The feature will end when you run out of respins or if you fill all 15 positions with chip symbols. The chips will either pay out values between 1x and 20x your stake, or the Mini, Minor, or Major jackpots worth 50x, 150x, or 750x your stake, respectively. You can claim the Mega jackpot worth 5,000x your stake if you fill all the reel positions.
Land 3 scatters anywhere on the reels to receive 10 free spins and the middle 3 reels will merge, allowing 3x3 mega symbols to appear. The feature is retriggered if a mega scatter symbol lands.
This slot has an impressive max payout worth 12,500x your bet. While the Mega jackpot is worth 5,000x your stake, it’s possible to hit higher wins if you’re lucky enough. Covering the reels with wilds would trigger the largest possible prize. When playing at the max stake of $20, you could win up to $250,000.
The game’s RTP rate is 96.08%, which is around the average going rate for online slots. Meanwhile, volatility is high, meaning you can expect lower win frequency on average, although the payouts can potentially be much higher.
While it’s always a good idea to check the RTP and volatility rates before you play, they’re not necessarily an indication of how your playing session will go. They’re calculated over many spins, so a typical playing session might see better or worse results depending on your luck. When I played, I managed to hit some big wins and triggered the free spins round, but not every player will be so lucky.
The vibe and style of Hyper Gold reminds me of classic gameshows, with lots of flashing lights, bright colours and money symbols. It shares some similarities with classic slots too, though with more in-your-face designs. The animations for spins and wins do help create some visual appeal, but if you’re used to modern games with high-quality graphics, you might be left disappointed.
Meanwhile, the background music that plays as you spin helps to set the tone. It’s cool and upbeat, with some futuristic sounds that play each time you land a win. In my experience, the audio design helps make the experience more enjoyable, though you can easily mute the sounds if you prefer.
Before you decide whether you want to play for real money, why not check out the free Hyper Gold demo? It’s available on this page, letting you try out the wilds, Link & Win feature and free spins without risking your own cash. We always recommend playing the demo, as it’s a great way to experience the slot for yourself.
While we go to great lengths to review every slot and give you our opinion, you might not always enjoy a game simply because we do. As a result, the demo will help you make your own mind up, and you can then play for real money once you’ve had some spins.
Hyper Gold is a lot of fun to play, but it’s hardly unique in the slot world. There are plenty of other classic style slots offering fixed jackpots and other creative bonus features, such as the Link & Win feature. Here’s a comparison to other similar games we enjoy:
Hyper Gold slot delivers a thrilling experience with a dazzling theme. The slot’s visuals are a combination of flashy gold and neon accents that give the experience a high-octane synth-pop feel, accented by the thumping soundtrack. The Link & Win feature offers amazing potential, and claiming the slot’s top prize of $250,000 is possible by filling the entire reel set with wild symbols. While there isn’t much new on offer here, the visual experience alone makes this title worth trying.
