IGT’s Mistress of Egypt is a 5x3 slot with 30 fixed paylines and three bonus features to discover. It stars Cleopatra, one of the most iconic rulers of ancient Egypt, and she stays on screen while you play. And she gets involved in the gameplay, conjuring up golden pyramids that land on the reels and become Wild symbols.
The Synchronized Reels feature adds stacked symbols to help you win, and the Random Wilds bonus can award up to 15 Wild symbols across the reels. Random Wilds trigger on each spin in the Free Spins feature, too. Unfortunately, the max win is just 1,000x your bet, and you’ll need help from the bonuses to get close to that.

Like other IGT slots, Mistress of Egypt has user-friendly controls that make it easy to play across devices. The panel at the bottom of the screen shows your remaining balance, coin value, total bet, and winnings.
Use the ‘+’ and ‘-’ buttons in the panel to change the size of your stake, but only between spins in the base game. Press the yellow Spin button to the right of the reels to play, or push the red button above it to program your auto spins (up to 100).
The ‘Paytable’ and ‘Game Rules’ buttons above the screen open the corresponding pages. I browsed both before I started playing, and I recommend you do the same to get a clear idea of how Mistress of Egypt works.
Mistress of Egypt’s symbols will probably seem familiar if you’ve played many other Egyptian-themed slots. There’s Cleopatra, of course, and a few ancient Egyptian gods. I like how detailed and colourful the symbols are, especially Cleopatra and the gods.
The royals pay the minor prizes, as in any other slot—the jack and queen offer 50x your stake for 5, and the king and ace award 60x.
The Bastet and Horus symbols are worth 100x your bet for 5. Anubis and Ra pay 120x your stake for 5. Finally, the super-glamorous Cleopatra symbol awards 200x your stake for 5.
The pyramid symbol is Wild and stands for all symbols except the Bonus Scatter, which can trigger the Free Spins Bonus.
You'll pick up a cash prize if you land three, four, or five matching symbols on any payline. Cleopatra is the only symbol that pays out for two or more on a payline. Wild symbols can make winning easier by replacing other symbols and finishing winning combos.
The Synchronized Reels feature is constantly active. Every reel in the game can have large stacks of the same symbol, and a reel set with one of the stacked symbols is picked randomly before each spin. All symbols, except the Bonus Scatter and Wild symbols, can form a stack, even on multiple reels simultaneously.
I think the Random Wilds feature is the best bonus in Mistress of Egypt. Wild symbols can land on 3 to 15 positions across the grid on any base game spin. That might help you build winning combos without needing exact symbol matches.
Get three or more Bonus Scatters anywhere on the reels to play the Free Spins Bonus. You’ll win 10, 20, or 75 free spins for 3, 4, or 5 Bonus Scatters, respectively.
In this feature, Random Wilds are triggered on each free spin, giving you a better chance of landing wins. I was disappointed that the Free Spins Bonus can’t be retriggered. Still, if you get 75 free spins, you’ll enjoy the feature for a while anyway.
The max payout in Mistress of Egypt is 1,000x your bet. That’s much smaller than some of the prizes in other Egyptian-themed slots, such as the 5,000x max win in Book of Dead or the 10,000x available in Cat Wilde and the Pyramids of Dead.
Mistress of Egypt’s 96.20% RTP is just above the average for slots (96%), so it can give a return of $96.20 for each $100.00 staked over time. But that’s only the theoretical return based on many simulated spins. Actual returns can be less or higher.
The game’s high volatility means payouts are less frequent than slots with lower volatility. For me, the game only paid out occasionally, and the prizes were tiny. The only time payouts increased was with the help of the Random Wilds, but they were still relatively small.
Mistress of Egypt looks pretty impressive, mainly because a detailed model of Cleopatra stands next to the reels the whole time. Subtle animations (blinking eyes and moving hands) bring her to life and add more movement to the graphics. The reels have a stylish blood-red colour, the symbols are designed well, and the background features a night sky dotted with stars.
The music is just what you’ll probably expect if you’ve played other Egyptian-themed slots, with strings, drums, and an exotic feel.

Slots set in ancient Egypt or inspired by that era are massively popular. You can find plenty of options on the market, whether you fancy a slot with a spooky feel or something with more of an Indiana Jones flavour.
Legacy of Egypt is a slot from Play’n GO featuring a max win of 5,000x your bet and a Free Spins feature. IGT’s Cleopatra is one of the most well-known Egyptian-themed slots; with wins of up to 10,000x your stake up for grabs.
Another popular slot is Book of Dead, starring prolific treasure-hunter Rich Wilde. This pays out up to 5,000x your bet and offers a Free Spins feature with expanding symbols.
Mistress of Egypt isn’t the best Egyptian-themed slot you’ll ever play, but it’s still a decent game with a couple of good bonuses. I found the visuals easy on the eye from the start, especially Cleopatra herself. Without her, Mistress of Egypt would likely be a more generic-looking slot.
The Random Wilds feature can help you land winning combos by adding three or more Wild symbols to the grid, and it’s triggered on each spin in the Free Spins Bonus.
You can claim 75 free spins if you trigger the bonus feature with five Scatters, so you can get plenty of free opportunities to win.
The biggest issue is that the payouts can be small, and the max win is 1,000x your bet. Paired with the high volatility, the Mistress of Egypt doesn’t promise much in the way of big prizes.
