Sonic Free Spins
Land 3 scatter symbols on reels 1, 3, and 5 to activate the Sonic Free Spins wheels. The first wheel spins to award you up to 25 free spins and the second wheel spins to allocate a win multiplier of up to 5x. If a further 3 scatter symbols land during free spins, you will retrigger the feature.
Link & Win
Landing 3, 4, or 5 Coins anywhere on the reels will trigger the Echo Chance that enhances the likelihood of activating the Link & Win feature. Landing 6 coins on a single spin will take you right to Link & Win where you start with 3 spins. Any new Coin symbols that land will reset the spin counter to 3 and remain locked in place for the duration of the feature. The coin symbols award cash prizes or the Big, Major, or Mega prize, worth 25x, 80x, or 300x your bet, respectively. If you manage to fill all grid positions, you will receive the Sonic prize, worth 5000x your bet.
Playing the Game
Playing Sonic Links is easy. Once you’ve chosen your bet amount, you can choose up to 100 Autoplay respins and select the ‘Quick Spin’ option in settings to speed up your game. There are no interactive elements, so you can sit back and enjoy without any interruptions.
Sonic Links slot is a satisfactory option for players looking for classic slots gameplay with a retro ambience, but it isn’t very interesting. I appreciate throwback aesthetics as much as the next person and this title’s nebulously retro theme gives us a bit of the 70s and 80s with bright colours and an energetic soundtrack.
The gameplay does not contain any real standout elements. The free spins round is adequately rewarding, and the Link & Win feature delivers the game’s top potential of $250 000. Both features have an out-of-the-box feel with no additional enhancements or modifiers to create a sense of uniqueness, except for the Echo Chance. If you’re looking for retro schmaltz with a bit more substance to it, I highly recommend Hotline 2 for Miami Vice-style action or Hyper Strike for an upscaled fruit machine experience.
